Twix PBTwix is one of the most popular candy bar brands in the country (and mighty popular in Europe, to boot). About 43 million are sold each year (source). There are quite a few different versions and limited editions that have come and gone over the years.
It was kind of an odd process. I submitted an email through the Contact page on the Twix website and two days later I got an email (referencing Peanut Butter M&Ms, which really confused me, because if I asked a question about PB M&Ms, it had to be over a year ago when I was trying to find out if they still made Crispy in the States) with a reference number and their toll free hotline. I called the number and gave them the number and they confirmed that there will be no more Peanut Butter Twix once supplies currently in stores and warehouses run out. (This would be the appropriate time to pick up a box at your local grocer when they go on sale for three for a dollar and then sell them for $2 each on eBay.) The only difference between these two products is the cookie in the center. The original Peanut Butter Twix has a vanilla cookie (like the regular Twix) while the new PB Twix has a chocolate cookie (like the Limited Edition Twix Triple Chocolate). This is how I feel about this bar ... it’s trying too hard. I got a hold of the classic Peanut Butter Twix and did a side by side comparison. I like the Peanut Butter Twix, not a lot, but enough to finish the bar on hand. The peanut butter is definitely the main attraction here. The bar isn’t very sweet and the cookie gives it a nice texture without doing much else. The chocolate, well, keeps things together. The Twix looks the same from the outside. The cookie isn’t quite as crispy and satisfyingly crunchy. The peanut butter seems to be lost in the Hydrox-style cookie (no, not Oreo, I’m saying Hydrox for a reason). It all tastes like bad frosting. Not like peanut butter, not like chocolate. It has a nice salty balance and isn’t too sweet, but it just doesn’t have much going for it as a candy. I hate to say it, but when I eat this, the word that comes to mind is unctuous. I mean this in both senses of the word ... it’s kind of oily and it’s also kind of insincere and smug. Now, if you’re a Twix fan, you’ll probably want to ignore everything I’ve written here. I’ve never actually cared much for Twix. Sometimes I’ll eat a miniature as a reminder to myself that I really don’t like them. I don’t know why. All the elements seem like a good idea. Is it just me, or do Twix always become a melted mess in your fingers too? I don’t have that problem with most other bars. If you’re a fan of the traditional (and you should really try this one before you go getting in an uproar) then you should probably call Mars or send them an email to let them know how you feel. I loved the original Twix Peanut Butter. For me, it was a nice dessert or pick-me-up, that wasn’t going to be too heavy. (The caramel version is nice, but is a bit too sweet for me.)
I especially liked picking up ‘lunch packs’ which had just one cookie per wrapper, and sold in a package of like 12. Just about perfect.
So I tried the new Twix PB. In two words, here’s my review. It sucked. The cookie wasn’t hydrox quality...it was worse. Maybe ‘no-name brand sold for a buck in the grocery story’ quality. And it gave the whole thing a rather unpleasant smell. I couldn’t even eat the peanut butter off the top, because the smell had infused itself into it.
My rating would be clear down to a 3.
I’ve never been a big Twix fan myself, so I haven’t bothered to try these. My roommate is *utterly* addicted to these though.
The chocolate “cookie\” is definitely not the highlight of these. The huge amount of creamy peanut butter is pretty good though.
Cat & Justin - I’m glad to hear from Twix fans that the chocolate cookie part is just substandard here.
Sera - did your roommate say anything about the changeover?
I have just recently tried both the Twix PB and the Twix Triple Chocolate. I liked the Twix PB at first because it reminded me of those Reese’s Cookies...but it made me want one of those even more so that I didn’t have to have a pale reminder. I feel the Twix Triple Chocolate has promise however, if you like chocolate cookie vs vanilla. I would buy it again.
Wasn’t the ‘original’ peanut butter Twix discontinued once before? There was a long period when I couldn’t find it in stores (i greatly preferred it over the caramel Twix). A few weeks ago I gave the Twix PB a try, and my review is even shorter than Cat Skyfire: “yuck.” I’m sad to learn that the good pb twix has been discontinued in favor of this.
(And yes, they always become a melted mess for me, too.)
Ah, the “lunch packs.” I have fond memories of those. As for the new PB Twix, it’s an utter disappointment. The chocolate cookie was not up to par and is too sweet. And did anybody else notice the different texture of the chocolate coating? Mine seemed kind of, I dunno, gummy?
Now, see, here’s what happened: they had the original and peanut butter together in the ‘80s, and in the early ‘90s, added cookies ‘n creme and chocolate fudge flavors (both quite tasty) to their roster, and a few years later, pulled everything but original. Then, in the late ‘90s, they finally brought back peanut butter.
I’ve always been a fan of the original peanut butter Twix. These are just terrible.
i thought it was just new packaging.
if i new it was chocolate cookie i would never have bought it.
My boyfriend is in LOVE with the Peanut Butter twix. Not the cookie one, but the plain twix with PB. Is there anyway i can find some, or maybe order case???
Just Let me know ASAP!
Thank you so much,

I find PB Twix quite wondeful. They are less sweet than the average candy bar, the chocolate cookie is wonderfully crispy, and peanut butter filling meltingly smooth. All things considered, this is the best new candy bar introduction in many years (and one of the few variations on a classic which is actually good—for example, every variant on a Reese’s peanut butter cup is inedible.)
I thought that TwixPB was peanut butter Twix with a different packaging, since they’ve changed the look once before. I was extremely disappointed when I bit into it and thought something had soured in my mouth. I looked down and it was a dark chocolate bar that tasted like stale brownies. I just finished writing the Mars co. and hope to hear from them soon. I want the peanut butter Twix back. There was nothing wrong with it before so why do they keep changing it and worst of all they tricked us. There was no advertising about this chocolate peanut buttered want-a-be candy bar. To this day I still can’t find anything about the bar from the company even on Twix.com they only have peanut butter Twix along side regular Twix with caramel. Peanut Butter Twix was my favorite candy bar and now it’s gone. What to do? There’s nothing like it Reeses is close but it doesn’t have that shortbread cookie crunch. Maybe if enough of us complain to the company they will redistribute them. Let’s try that!

A couple times a week I try to buy a Twix bar for my co-workers. IT really does seam to let us sit back and relax for a moment in-between all of our meetings. ( which we all can appreciate ) Is that weird of us to do that? Does anyone else share this ritual that we do at our jobs?
Talk to all of you soon,

I am like a few of the previous posts. When I saw the new Twix PB I was happy to think my favorite candy bar was back. Then I started to eat it… not so pleasant. There’s people in my family that like both but there’s nothing like the original, in my opinion.
here wat !!! this new twix is an abomination! pb !!! PB !!!! more like please b better ... cus it aint’ all dat - trust me ! ya hearddd
buh neyhows i goin nd make my own chocoalte nd i will rule the world !!!! nd its not gonna be no pb - it mite be like db ( the best ) !!!!
I highly agree with those who said the original PB Twix was way better. Quite sad.
i love the original and i have tried the new one and at least it is something....i can hardly find the new one out there so when i see it i grab it.
I also loved the Peanut Butter Twix - especially when I was pregnant. It was an elusive candy bar so whenever I spotted one I would immediately grab 2 or 3, since I knew it might be a while before I would find another one. When pregnant, I ate one every day. I’m trying to get pregnant again, and I dread the thought of having unfulfillable cravings for Peanut Butter Twix. I have written to Mars using a link given above, begging them to bring back the old version and promising them at least 9 months of solid sales. PB Twix sucks.
I never tried the original PB Twix but this new one is great. It reminds me of the Reeses Cookies although those are hard to beat. I do notice some funky flavor and texture to the cookie portion of the PB Twix but can get over that since I LOVE pb & chocolate mix.
Yah I agree with most reviews here. The new Twix PB is an abomination. I used to get the old “classic” PB Twix from my vending machine at work and I think I would single handedly take down every one. I was excited when I saw the new Twix PB, but read that it now has a chocolate cookie. I bought it anyway, tried it and is sucked. ‘Nuff said.
I LOVE the NEW Twix PB. I didn’t care for Twix, but tried this one with chocolate cookie and peanut butter. It is very good—not too sweet and it has a good peanut butter taste. The chocolate cookie is just fine. If you are not a regular Twix eater—these may be just fine for you.
I love the new Twix PB, but I can rarely find them. I look in every grocery store, drugstore, and convenience store I visit. Actually haven’t been able to find one in a few months!
WHAT?! They’re discontinued?! Is that why I can’t find them anymore?! Nooooo!
I used to love the Peanut Butter Twix! I spent a good deal of my lunch money on ‘em during high school. :( I dislike the taste of the chocolate cookie in the new version. YUCK!
twix is def my favorite candy bar especially when they had the cookies n creme ones, please bring those back they were amazing.
