Enstrom’s ToffeeIt seems like some parts of the country are known for different confections. The South does wonderful things with pecan pralines, San Francisco has a wonderful way with dark chocolate, the Jersey Shore has its salt water taffy. Now I’m noticing that Colorado is attracted to toffee. My neighbor got this as a gift at the office from a co-worker returning from Colorado. It’s, apparently, the thing that people bring back from Colorado.
These thick slabs of almond toffee are described thusly on their website:
Instead of pieces of almonds dotting the toffee, this toffee has generous whole almonds. The slabs are extra thick and the chocolate coats both sides with an extra dusting of powdered almonds. The toffee has a crisp bite with a strong buttery taste to it. It cleaves well and melts on the tongue with a good salty bite and caramelized sugar flavor. I can see why Enstrom’s is so highly regarded. This is tasty toffee. The only thing that bugs me about is the whole slab idea. I’d prefer my toffee to be in regular pieces that I can pick up and bite or pop in my mouth whole. But if that’s my biggest complaint, well, I don’t have much to complain about. As far as I’m concerned, you can’t go wrong with any of the toffees I’ve had from Colorado (see Silver Bear).

Speaking of toffee, Trader Joe’s currently has on display this dark chocolate, roasted praline-coated toffee that is absolutely delicious. We bought a box last night and I’ve already eaten most of it.
Sounds delicious.
A big slab like that could have it’s uses though. Perhaps provide a good base for a dessert (Ice-cream for example.)

Julilla - I still haven’t tried the Littlejohn toffee! (It’d be easier if people didn’t give me a pound of Enstrom’s to try!)

Grace - I haven’t been in TJs for a few weeks, it sounds like I’m missing something.
The reason for the single slab is fairly obvious to me… cuts down on production cost.
I have been buying Enstrom’s candy for over ten years. 1) Because I think it’s delicious. 2) I give it to family members and friends for Christmas gifts.
But, one thing has been concerning me. Over the past few years you have raised the price by almost 50 % and currently charge a lot of money for shipping. A two pound box now costs me over $40.00, which is becoming un-affordable.
I really love your almond toffee. I think it is the best out there. But it has rapidly priced itself out of my range.Is there anything you can do about this?

The toffee is our favorite. It is now available in bite-sized pieces.
I have to say this toffee is fantastic. I can’t really even IMAGINE how it could be better. I just got 2 more lbs today and a 2 lbs tin to give as a gift.
Great toffee. I have given this as a gift for about 7 years. So, it is great. But, the price has really gone up which is making me think of trying something different. Would be nice to have a sale or discount sometimes. Thanks.
Enstrom’s has been in commercial production of their World Famous almond toffee for almost 50 years! I’ve been enjoying it every Xmas for 40 years.
I’d rate this reviewer a 6, not very good research. Enstrom’s Toffee is nothing but a TEN!!! There is none better!!! There are also several variations and other confections produced by Enstrom’s. The best IMHO is their original Almond Toffee with none of the extra toppings or coatings. The huge “slabs” are part of what makes Enstrom’s unique. For those too lazy to break off a chunk they also have tins of individually wrapped 1oz pieces.
You pay for quality and Enstrom’s Toffee is not only worth the price, but is a good value for what you pay because of the best ingredients and the time and expertise to hand-craft their confections.
FRAUD ALERT!!!! The candy is great, the ethics of the company are terrible. Have ordered from them for several years(with a large order for multiple deliveries every year). Last year with the confirmation was a notice at the bottom that there would be a charge for ‘incorrect’ addresses. This is after the order has been placed and charged to your account. I knew all the addresses were correct, so I didn’t worry about it. In fact the addresses had been used the previous year at least.
They later charged the extra fee on one delivery, claiming the zip code was incorrect. When I checked the order I had printed out, they were correct. They refused to fix it.
We will never order from them again.
