I have been having trouble finding Brach’s Malts lately that are made with real chocolate, so I wrote Farley and Sathers customer service department and this was their reply:

Thank you for writing Farley’s & Sathers Candy Company, Inc. regarding Brach’sŪ Malts.  Hearing from our consumers better enables us to continue to provide quality products and services.  Consumer feedback is very important to us, and we appreciate the opportunity to respond.

Farley’s & Sathers made an adjustment to this product formula.  The malted milk balls with real milk chocolate have been discontinued. We will be evaluating consumer reactions and responses to the changes in this product on a weekly basis in an effort to determine consumer impact.  Your feedback is important to us, and the information you provided will be considered as we review and evaluate the changes to this item.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us with your inquiry.  Please visit our website at http://www.farleysandsathers.com for additional information about our products and services.

Sincerely,

Suzie Webb
Consumer Relations

Wow, that’s really disappointing. They were one of the few companies that still used real milk chocolate that didn’t charge an arm and a leg.

I guess I’ll have to go back to ordering from Wilbur or Jelly Belly. (Trader Joe’s sometimes has Malted Milk Balls ... and sometimes doesn’t. When I’m on the East Coast it seems pretty easy to find Koppers.)

If you try the Triple Dipped Malted Milk Balls at http://www.candy-lane.com, you’d fast forget about Brach’s.  We only sell the best and feel you’d agree.  Don’t like Triple Dipped, let us know and we can get regular dipped and you have your choice of delicious chocolate, milk or dark.

Candy Lane - can you tell us the ingredients? There are none listed on your website.

(And please, fill in your profile page ... unless you’re just here promoting yourself and not looking to become a member of our candy-loving community.)

Hi,

The ingredients for the Malted Milk Balls are as follow:

Corn Syrup, Malted Milk Powder, Whey Powder, Hydrogenated Palm Kernel Oil, Sugar, Whole Milk, Cocoa Butter, Chocolate Liquor, Soya Lecithin, Vanillin, Gum Arabic and Confectionery Glaze.

I only can tell you these Malted Milk Balls are considered addicting and when I had the retail store, we could hardly keep them in stock no matter how many we ordered.  They were a customer favorite from day one.

I know you are used to Brach’s, but if you try these, I feel ultimately, you’ll find you just might prefer these.  I know some people prefer “A” instead of “B”, but I will tell you this, we didn’t sell any Brach’s chocolates inside the retail store and I don’t think we never did.  Some chocolate is better than others and there’s MANY other brands and types you just might like just as much or better.  Brach’s is readily available inside convenience, drug and discount stores, so the name is known and people buy what they see or can easily get until they know otherwise.

Let me know if you should have additional questions.
