Wonka DonutzName: Donutz
It took me a long time to figure out what a chocolate donut has to do with Wonka (the books or movies), but after mulling it a bit it came to me that there’s a line in Veruca Salt’s song “I Want It Now” in the 1972 version of the movie:
Yeah, that’s a stretch, but there you have it, the donut Veruca was insisting on. It’s okay, the Wonka Donutz has as little to do with the bakery donuts as they do the movie. They’re donut shaped. There’s no bready, fried dough in there at all. It’s chocolate, through and through except for the fun little colored nonpareils. But whew, these are chocolatey. The Donutz is a plump, milk chocolate hoop with a firm, creamy chocolate truffle-like center. The outside chocolate is mild and sweet, like that found in a Nestle Crunch bar. A little on the grainy side, but pleasant. The inside of the candy is a sweet and melty filling of chocolate with a slight rum aroma to it. The sprinkles (half of which are guaranteed to not make it into your mouth) provide a fun little crunch. I wasn’t really that interseted in this candy until Alexander, a reader, sent me his own review. Overall I was expecting something fudgier and sweeter (which would have been a bad thing). Instead it was just very mildly chocolatey and mildly sweet with some textures to mix it up a bit. I would probably eat it if you put it in front of me, but I don’t see myself buying them unless I’m going for a Wonka theme thing. This candy bar was made in Brazil. Commenting is not available in this weblog entry.I’ve passed on these at 7-11 dozens of times. Something about it doesn’t seem appealing. Actually none of the Wonka candies seem appealing to me. Even Jawbreakers.
That’s sort of weird to have a solid chocolate doughnut. Even weirder is the spelling as “donutz”. I think I’d have to pass on these, though like you said if someone put it in front of me and said to eat it, I probably would…
I reviewed them a while back and didn’t like them. I’d give you the link to the review but my site is down right now (Grrrrr).

Yeah, I was looking for the link Brian, and kept waiting for your site to come back up (I couldn’t remember if you had reviewed them or not).
The thing about the sprinkles that I realized is that jimmies don’t roll around like these little candy spheroids. But I’m a big spheroid fan when you put them on misty mints or snocaps.
For the record, I still had a third of it left after posting the review and I didn’t finish it. I think that means it should be downgraded to a 4 or so, but I just don’t have the heart to trash dear Mr. Wonka. (But I strangely have no compunction when it comes to Nestle.)

Me liked it!
I got one of these in my stocking… I was super excited to see it, but it was very disappointing. The chocolate is ok, but the middle wasn’t very creamy, and the non-pareils were pretty, but… I dunno. It made me realize that I am generally disappointed by Wonka candy in general. I do like the Wonka bar (chocolate with graham cracker), but even that doesn’t live up to what I expect. I suppose because I was so in love with the film as a child, and I want the candy to bring back that feeling somehow.
I have to disagree with one information in this page , unfortunetly Wonka chocolate has NEVER been made or sold in Brazil. :(
