Today Show: Kissed Off!

Those of us on the West Coast did not get to see the Today show segment that they promoted as Kissed Off! because of The President’s address on the financial crises.

Good news though, they put the whole thing online (and I just got to watch it):

You can also read the companion story here: Chocoholics sour on new Hershey’s formula.

  2. Honestly, I have never been a fan of Hershey’s chocolate, even back when it was actually chocolate. I definitely won’t be buying there chocolate stuff anymore.

Fantastic interview Cybele! You looked great! Lets see if this makes any difference in what Hershey’s does next. If I’m to understand this correctly, Hershey’s has not only switched ingredients due to rising costs, but also felt is was necessary to raise prices by 11% as well? So in other words, we’re paying more for a substantially inferior product.

  4. Great to see you on the show!! It was good. Hopefully Hersheys will take notice and fix the issue. Good work.

  5. This is great, hopefully some more recognition will help create more awareness and get consumers to send in complaints. I wish they could have spent more time on this story so they could have touched more on the whole “citizen’s petition” that involves chocolate.  I’m going to be posting this video and sending it out to everyone I know.

  6. That’s so cool that you were on the show!  My favorite was the “sorting” shot of mockolate and chocolate.

  7. We got to see you here on the east coast!  (Mr.Prez interupted Rachel Ray for us!) I knew it was you before they introduced you - because you sound just like you write!  Very impressive story and I am glad that you got to “speak your piece” on national television.  It is a absolute shame that Hershey - an American icon - would resort to making inferior products all in the name of profit. I would much rather pay more for GOOD chocolate - than pay ANYTHING for BAD “chocolate”.  I will still use Harshey Bars in my S’mores because they haven’t messed with them yet - but I will not be buying their other products until I see cocoa butter back in the ingredient list.

I’ve said it before and it’s worth repeating but I would much rather pay more for the same product I loved than less for a cheap knockoff

Also I am happy to finally know how to pronounce your name, all this while I thought it was Sybil

  9. Yeah…at the stores I shop at here in San Francisco, the cost of Hershey’s bars has gone from about 75-85 cents to anywhere from 95 cents to $1.15. No way am I paying that much for an inferior product.

I am grossed out by this substitution (veg oil?? REALLY??!!)
And I, too, will not be a Hershey’s customer. (Darn it, I really wanted to go to Hershey Park!!)

Just to add on to the comment I made yesterday. This whole debacle involving the “Mocklate Scandel” is a perfect example of what I’ve been saying for the last 2 years. Which is that more and more lately I’ve felt that we as consumers, have gotten used to being given an inferior product as well as receiving inferior service. Whether it is from a grocery store, restaurant or whatever. But I’ve also been wondering lately if that is because big corporations have gotten so greedy that the customer no longer matters as long as they’re getting their money, or is it because we customers have been conditioned to accept a less than adequate product as well as less than stellar service?

Whatever the reason, I hope that as consumers we can stand together and demand that big companies treat us in a manner that in the past, was the rule instead of the exception. Which sadly is not the case these days.

  14. Thanks for posting the video. I’m in Hawaii and your appearance was pre-empted over here too! I thought I was fast-forwarding too quickly through my recording. You did a great job in your interview and I hope it at least makes more consumers aware of what they are buying.

  17. I missed the show, so thank you for posting the video on this website. I hope everyone will make contact with Hershey’s and let them know how they feel about the ingredients in the best chocolate on the planet being changed. I won’t be buying anymore Hershey’s candies except the bars and kisses. If that formula is changed I won’t buy them anymore either!!
