1. Made your teeth hurt? That’s not good.

   I thought those orange-chocolate balls that you smash open were a new thing, in the last five years or so! I guess I missed a very good Christmas treat, but my grandma always made sure we had ribbon candy.

2. Tricia - I think I remember getting chocolate apples as a kid, but they weren’t apple flavored (and might have been dark chocolate). We did also get Toblerones too ... and Droste sometimes or Baci and of course Torrones.

   This of course was all mixed in with kisses and hard candies and of course Santa always gave us nuts and an orange or pomegranate in the toe.

3. It seems to me that the chocolate orange used to be really hard to find in the US, even as recently as 10 years ago. Now that Kraft owns & distributes it, it’s in many major retail outlets - sort of like Toblerone, for that matter! The history section of their web site doesn’t state when it became a Kraft product, though, so I don’t know if this explains everything. I do so love the dark chocolate orange, though. (Did you know they had a chocolate apple before the orange? Wacky!)

4. I don’t remember if the chocolate oranges I used to get as a child were the Terry’s brand ... and yes, I am a grown woman and I still get a Christmas stocking. (Last year I got Droste in it, not a chocolate orange.)

   When more Christmas candy comes in, I’ll do a fruit basket review!

5. I recently noticed in a UK supermarket that Terry’s has brought out a mint shaped chocolate ball - the same shape and size as their orange.

7. There are several Terry’s flavours: dark chocolate raspberry, white chocolate lime, mint.  They all come in the traditional ball shape; the bars have only been out a couple of years.

9. Maybe it’s nostalgia getting to me too - but I LOVE the chocolate orange ball things. Lol. Now I’m going to have to hunt for those - I forgot about them!

   And I have to say - Cadbury Creme Eggs are an Easter obsession of mine I totally agree about the holiday candy syndrome!

    i miss the English terry’s, im from Australia and you can get them over here but they are made over here
    (Australian chocolate is yuck)
    its not the same as the English Terry’s!

I had to throw in my two cents:  The chocolate orange has been around for a long long time, and it DID used to be hard to find in the US.  That’s because it was made by Droste.  It was really high quality delicious chocolate.  Now the only ones you can get are Terry’s (Kraft) and they are AWFUL.

15. I keep hearing that the chocolate oranges are not hard to find anymore, BUT i cant find one to save my life. All the stores around here only have them at christmas time and just the orange. Is there a certain place i should check?

17. I am trying to find a wholesale distributer of Terry’s Chocolate Oranges.  Does anyone know of any?  Otherwise, if anyone knows of any stores that sell them, other than Cost Plus World Market, that would be great!
