Sour Patch Extreme
What I think is interesting about the new Sour Patch Extreme candies is that they didn’t just make them more sour. They mixed the flavors up a bit. Each candy is a mix of two flavors. The head is one flavor and the shock of hair is a second flavor. I don’t think they looked too much like faces, more like feet with different colored toes to me.
Orange Blue Raspberry (blue hair and orange head) - I would have preferred my citrus together - maybe a little lemon and orange, but this was okay. The orange seemed to overpower the raspberry in the sour department, but after chewing to the point where it gets sweet, that’s when the raspberry kicked in. Sour Apple Strawberry (red hair and green head) - This combo was quite as abundant in the mix and that was fine by me. The flavors were so distinct they didn’t seem to go together. I rather prefer my flavors separate. The good thing is that you can just bite off the half that you feel like eating, but of course you can’t throw the other half back into the bag for later (well, maybe you could, but I wouldn’t). While they are more sour, they’re also a smidge less flavorful. I think I’ll stick with the regular ones. I got these as a sample at All Candy Expo, but I spotted them at Target and 7-11. Unlike gummis, Sour Patch products contain no gelatin (they’re technically a “jelly” product). For that reason they are suitable for vegetarians. Related Candies

See, I love me some regular sour patch. I just can’t see improving them. Certainly not by making them “EXTREME”. At least some of the flavor combos sound good (I really like the sound of Orange Blue Raspberry). I think I’ll stick to the originals, though.
I really love these, and the site as well.. My fave is the watermellon grape. A great addition to the patch!
I love these over the sour patch kids if you like them just give the Extremes a shot they aren’t much more sour than the Kids but they have a better taste to them i believe… They are hard to find though… My favs. are Watermelon grape and apple strawberry… i love these things
So im a huge fan of these extremes and get them regularly, I mean almost daily! And when I recently went to the gas station I get them at, they had changed! They are still called extremes, but now have the look of the commercial sour patch kid, without double colors, unlike the ones with two flavors each and are shaped like heads of some sort. These are more like the original but with more defined eyeballs, and have what seem to be sour apple, strawberry,orange, and blue raspberry, unlike the heads these are a step higher in sourness thats for sure!
Oh but I forgot they are very good, I rlly like the blue raspberry and strawberry, the strawberry tastes like a fruit roll up only really sour, so yeah id recommend them (and yea im eating a bag right now):p
I am also enjoying a bag of Sour Patch Kids eXTreme; and just like the previous poster, mine and not dual flavored heads. These look similar to the original kids, but are slightly larger, more detailed, and come in a new set of DELICIOUS flavors. I’ve been trying to locate an actual list of these flavors, to no avail. I agree with the previous poster, sour green apple (green) and sour blue raspberry(blue) BUT! My friends and I are in dispute over the last two flavors (orange and pink). We acquired a few bags (for good measure!!) and sampled away. We all agreed on blue and green, but couldn’t settle on pink and orange. The first of us to declare a flavor also decided sour strawberry, but the next two decided sour watermelon. As a tie breaker, we allowed a new panel to sample and report. Here’s where things got interesting; the bag that was declared to have strawberry, was again described as strawberry and the two bags claimed as watermelon, were again called watermelon. Second samplers were given NO information in regards to the first sampling. We moved on to orange finally…but again had this same repetitive issue. One was claimed orange, while the other two were insistently called peach (the bag with “orange” was the same bag with “strawberry” and the two bags identified as “watermelon” also held the “peach”. We obviously had to allow our second samplers take another go, with almost identical results (sampler tasting orange from bag 2 could NOT make up their mind). REGARDLESS if pink is strawberry, watermelon or schnozzberry, these sour little kicks in the mouth are definitely new and IMPROVED. I will probably never look at the classic flavors the same! ENJOY!!!!
Allison, that is really interesting, I would of liked to watch your taste test in action! Me and a friend of mine also had a hard time at first putting our finger on the pink one, we didn’t do a blind test though and had just tried another strawberry flavored gummy snack (well sort of, it was a strawberry fruit roll up) and they do taste very similar. But that is a good idea though and I’m glad these extremes aren’t getting looked over.
I will not buy sour patch kids ever again since they stopped making these. The product development team for sour patch are complete idiots and should be fired
