   They have it in Pittsburgh because our Airport rocks.  And we rock.

   Cowtails are quite popular at a lot of the places around Pittburgh though; the restaurant that I worked at had a little thing of them at the checkout counter.

   I found that Sky Bar is fairly popular and sold in most large drug stores in the Syracuse area.  What is their area of distribution? Can not find it in the New York City or Philadelphia regions.

   I know this is not timely but Economy Candy on the Lower East Side always has this candy bar. 

   The Sky Bar is with out a doubt my favorite commercial candy bar of all time.  It typifies the ‘60s and ‘70s in its melting pot approach to confections yet striving to integrate in one bar.

   I recall there was briefly a 2nd style of the SKY BAR that had a red wrapper but I don’t recall the difference in flavors.  Does anyone know the difference?

   I saw these at a candy store on the boardwalk in Atlantic City called It’s Sugar. They also had the Wazoo bars!

   And, they have cute candy-inspired t-shirts and a bunch of other nostalgic candy and a candy timeline. It’s a very cute place to visit, if you’re in the AC area.

   Sky Bar is my all-time favorite, orig. from Mass., used to have them shipped to me in FLA, but they arrived melted one time too many.  Now purchase them at Cracker Barrel, but price just went up from 99 cents to $1.49 each.  Wrote Sky Bar to see if company or restaurant ordered this price hike. Have not heard back.

   I used to love this candy bar when I was kid in the 1950s and 60s, but when tasting it as an adult, it just didn’t match the memory.

   I think Cow Tails are (or were) made here in Baltimore by Goetz’s, the caramel cream maker. The cow tails were the ends of the rolls that were cut for the caramel creams.

    I found these the other day at my local Walmart, but a little differently packaged… it seems like Necco has a hold on producing Twilight branded candies.

    I’ve had Skybars since I was a little kid, and though they sound like an interesting idea.. they are awful.  Yeah, one or two of the goo sections are pretty good, but the chocolate is gritty and the sections usually leak and stick to the cardboard insert.  And the cardboard tastes awful too (Yes I’ve tried it for reasons unknown even to me.)

    I have been eating skybars since I was a kid and was trying to find out what year they were made,,I after years of not finding them they showed up in my hardware store, and then Ben Franklin I buy them every week and I am 71yrs of age I love them,,,

    Sky Bars used to be made in Cambridge, MA.  Maybe they still are.  I stopped buying them , as I wrote before, b/c price went from 99 cents to $1.49 at Cracker Barrel Restaurant here in FLA.
    When relatives visited from MA, even they were unable to find them to bring down for me, in the usual grocery stores. We don’t have Ben Franklin store in FLA.  But thanks for all your comments.

    The jingle as I remember it:

    One two three four, Sky Bar!
    It’s the four in one bar!
    What flavor do you like best?
    English toffee, fudge parfait, honey nougat,
    Peanut whip for me, yes, peanut whip for me!
    One two three four, Sky Bar…(repeats & fades out)

    This dates from the late fifties, so I might not be remembering it exactly right.

    I LOVE Sky Bar.  I wish a candy company would come out with a new version, with centers of Orange, Raspberry, coffee , and the 4th, Um, I can’t think of a 4th flavour I’d like.

    Whenever I think of the skybar jingle, I smile.  Last summer I was in Ketchikan, Alaska, and I saw a skybar on the candy rack and started singing the jingle, which made everyone laugh.
    Does anyone know where I could find an internet version of the jingle that I could listen to. When I read the words, I don’t know what tune to use after the first quatrain.

    Every once in awhile, I crave a skybar, maybe because they are hard to find. Well I bought two yesterday, and when I ate the second one today, I was not very happy at all…Every section was just chocolate!! Where was my peanutbutter? I wrote to the company. Never in all the years of eating them have I experienced such a mess up!

    When I ate these as a kid in the 1950s, they had more flavors. I distinctly remember a cherry crème and a marshmallow section.  Does anyone else remember this?

    I grew up in the Boston area and worked near the NECCO factory for a short time. The Sky bar is one of my favorite candy bars and I love it more so because it is made back home.

    I was once gassing up at a self service gas station and a black Cadi Escalade with the license plate NECCO was behind me. I asked the owner why his plate said NECCO and he replied that he owned NECCO. I told him that I didn’t like NECCO Wafers but that I loved Sky bars and I also told him that I respected him for keeping the factory local instead of moving it to a state with cheaper labor.

    He informed me that NECCO wafers were, by far, their biggest seller-their bread and butter. He was a very kind man and I greatly enjoyed our conversation. I buy a Sky bar from time to time to support his business. But, never the NECCO wafers.

    Today I went to Universal Studios Hollywod and alongside City’s famous It’s Candy (Las Vegas’s “Venetian” also has a branch where I got some all chocolate (finally!) Necco wafers a few weeks back) and the Sky bars were there….they seem to rotate the flavors from one to another (three caramel and one vanilla)..familiar? I also bought today Annabelle’s Rocky ROad,(local drugstore)
    and at Walgreen downtown L.A. (a few blocks east of Pershing Square, northeast corner of Broadway (north-south) and 4th street (east-west), a relatively recently opened store branch, Necco’s classic wafers and yet another make of Circus Peanuts…Nice..owned by..Walgreens.

    I bought a Skybar at a candy shop thinking that it was going to be unique. Wrong. I only had caramel in all 4 sections. No other flavors. I would like to try the product as it was advertised but I guess they had a glitch in the candy making machine that day.

    PS I enjoy these, but I want to remind folks of the Seven-Up bar, coinciding with the SkyBar, but predating the 7-11 beverage! It was made by the Trudeau co., then later Pearsons, for most of its existence, and, there was, as you might have guessed, a long trademark battle, between Pearson and 7-Up,Inc.

    I was in NYC last week and visited Economy Candy.  If you’ve never been there before you owe yourself a visit.  One of the bars I bought was a Skybar.  I first read about them in Steve Almond’s book.  What a disappointment this candy bar is!  Is it made with mocklate now?

    EddieDoc - Goo sections HA! So funny, but not a good marketing phrase. I used to love licking the goo off the wrapper. When I was a child, that is. I’ll have look in itsugar the next time I visit Atlantic City.
