You know this is a cool candy for kidz because there’s that hip Z at the end.

This bar is not really a snack bar in the sense that a power bar or some sort of trail mix bar would be. It’s a candy bar. (I think most bar shaped things that are sweet are considered candy bars whether you stuff some vitamins in there or not.)

This bar is a peanut butter marshmallow crisped rice treat with a base of chocolate. The peanut butter mixed in with the marshmallow cement is smooth and nutty with a good hit of salt. The crisped rice is, well, crispy and it all pulls apart easily without crumbling into bits (as is a problem with some crunchy granola bars). The chocolate base for the whole thing is a really nice sweet complement.

Hershey has a full range of these bars in different flavors including S’mores and Chocolate Cream. They’re apparently fortified with calcium and seven essential vitamins (only 15% of the RDA for them though) and have no saturated fats but 3 grams of protein. There are worse decisions you can make for snack foods and certainly better ones in the candy family, but this is a nice in-between food. It’s certainly satisfying and is a rather large feeling bar. I can see this being a good candy to travel with, a nice little snack on the plane with a watery cup of coffee to wash it down.

  4. We have been purchasing the Reese’s Snack Barz at Cosco for a good while. It appears to no longer be available. This was a great snack. Where can we obtain these again? The package was a 42 bar (0.9 oz bar)size.
    Thanks

  5. HELP…... I was buying Reese’s snack bars at Costco, but they have stopped carrying them! Why don’t they have them anymore?  We love these bars! Please tell Costco to get them in again. We like the large quantity that they carried.

    Thank You!!

  6. they sell an 8-pack of these at rite aid (formerly eckerd pre-merger) for $2.99.  it’s the only store i know of that carries them.  i’ve been buying them there for about a year.

what’s weird is that the version at rite aid, despite having exactly the same name (reese’s snackbarz) and all the same text and colors on the package, they’re not double-deckers like the picture shown.  they have the bottom layer of chocolate, the first layer of crispy rice & marshmallow, and the layer of peanut butter, but not the top layer of crispy rice & marshmallow.  they are amazing though.  less fat & sugar and more vitamins that peanut butter chewy dipps (which themselves are not widely available) and way better tasting.  in all honesty, i’ve eaten 3 today already.

  8. My wife and I purchased these at Costco for quite a while.  We’re both type II diabetic and found that the snack barz were just right for controlling our blood sugar, much better than any of the available alternatives.  One bar would take care of a sugar deficit and leave us feeling good (not a sugar spike, a sugar adjustment) for quite a while.

My control was so good that I managed to maintain my numbers in proper ranges AND lose weight in the process.  Now we can’t find the snack barz anywhere.  We’re both having trouble controlling our blood sugar and I’m gaining weight again.

If anyone can get word to Costco and Hershey to make these bars available, please do so as soon as possible.

    Thanks,

  9. I found this snack bar in the machine at the hospital snack shop and loved it. My mom who is not a very candy type of person feel in love with them and I have not been able to find them any where. I have had to resort to going into the Er at the hospital and getting them out of the machine.
Help I need to find a place to buy them
    thanks Kim

  10. Searching the web a little more, I found the Hershey’s product locator. That led me to Walgreens, where I can by two eight-packs for $6.  I’d still prefer to buy in quantity at Costco but this will get me by.  http://www.hersheys.com/productlocator/index.asp
