Nut GoodieI was prompted to seek out this Pearson’s bar after enjoying both the Pearson’s Salted Nut Roll and later the Bun Bars (especially the Maple Bun). But here’s the question, how is this one different from the Bun Maple? Both are a maple fondant center covered in peanuts and milk chocolate. I had to taste it to find out.
There is no difference in size, they’re both 1.75 ounces and their packaging is sized identically. In fact, they look strikingly similar. But they don’t taste the same. I don’t know what to attribute this to, but the Nut Goodie is neither a Maple Bun nor a Vanilla Bun. Since I had the wrapper from the Bun still lying around I did a comparison:

So there you have it, they’re different. The Maple Bun, though it lists no maple flavoring, had a stronger mapleness to it, but the Nut Goodie is no slouch. It’s a good bar. The fondant center is a little more dense and has a good sweetness with a balanced slight hit of salt that brings out a more subtle maple/toasted note to it. The nuts are top notch and the milk chocolate is smooth and sweet and of good quality. I doubt I’ll see many of these around, but if you’re a Maple Bun fan and you can’t find those, this might be a tasty substitute. I’d still like to see these made in a bar form instead of the plop, as it’s a bit harder to eat.

Yummm, maple is one of my favorite sweet tastes. I’m going to have to look for these. I used to be able to find Maple Buns pretty easily, but even those are hard to come by now (although not the other two Bun varieties), so I doubt I’ll find these…
I’ve never had one of these. Probably because I’ve never SEEN one of these haha. But they look very yummy! I love the taste of maple. Have you ever had maple candy? I loved it as a kid, but it’s probably way too sweet for me now.
I grew up eating Nut Goodies. My mom is a Nut Goodie NUT. I had no clue as a youngster that many food items in this country are regional. Then I got married & moved away from Minneapolis and suddenly I was living in California WITHOUT instant access to Nut Goodies. I couldn’t just run to my local Wal-Mart to buy the bag of small, individually wrapped ones. It was brutal. Now my mom ships them to me and brings them when she comes to visit. I think these are one of the most delightful candybars around. I also miss the Salted Nut Rolls as well.
Are Pearson’s Nut Goodies kosher? If they are, who gives the kosher certification?

I must be in Nut Goodie heaven, because as I travel passed Ft. Snelling, onto 7th Street, I pass the Pearson’s Candy factory every day! Home to many delicious candy products! How can I describe to you the birthplace of such wonderful taste treats like the sumptious Nut Goodie? No doubt, the brick and mortar wrapper of the simple rectanglar building is a discrete cover to some extraordinary happening within! I am sure glad that I live where I do! Nut Goodies and Salted Nut Rolls are to be gotten everywhere! I just had a Nut Goodie and will have another tomorrow! Ummmmmmm! God bless the Umpa-lumpas at Pearson’s for headquarting here in my chocolaty hometown. town.
Yes! I loved Maple Buns candy bars. One place in Michigan still carries them that I know of. Then around here in Anchorage, AK, I saw the NUT GOODIE candy ‘bar’. Bypassed it for a long time, didn’t know what it was. But I kept being drawn back to them, and now I’m kinda hooked. Yeah, not exactly like the Maple Bun ones, but close.
I’m heading back to Michigan soon, I think I’ll take one from here and compare it to Michigan one.
And yeah, I love Maple Nut Goodies too.
I truly am a ‘maple’ nut!
