Mint AeroName: Aero Peppermint
Brand: Nestle Place Purchased: London Drugs (Vancouver, BC) Price: 3 for $2.00 (Canadian) Size: 45 grams Calories: 237 Type: Chocolate/Mint
![]() I reviewed the regular Milk Chocolate Aero bar a few months ago and while I found it pleasant and rather novel, it didn’t really compel me to buy another. However, many folks urged me to try the Aero Mint so when my husband called from the drug store in Canada and listed all the candies he could see (we have free mobile-to-mobile minutes), this was one I was curious about trying. The first thing that surprised me was that the center was green! I thought it was a milk chocolate bar that had a touch of mint flavor to it and that famous fluffy Aero bubblyness. Instead it’s a white (well, green) mint bar covered in milk chocolate. Because of the lighter color the bubbles were much easier to photograph for you. Yes, it looks like some sort of styrofoam but melts quickly in the mouth and is very minty. Like one of those pastel smooth & melty mints ... or maybe like an Andes Mint. Oddly enough the label advertises that the bar is a source of calcium. The nutrition information lists that it provides 7% of the daily recommendation. Hurray, I only need to eat 13 more for my full day’s supply! As there are few minted chocolate bars out there, this one is right up there at the top (well just about everything is above that Cup-O-Gold Peppermint). I liked it a bit more than the regular milk chocolate bar but not as much as the Hershey’s Cookies ‘n’ Mint. Hi Cybele it’s Dadio. Haven’t commented in a while so here it goes.
Personally, I like the mint Aero bar and wish they were more available in the U.S. It seems that these bars are only available in boutique stores that jack the price up to $1.50 or $2.00 a bar. But, my personal favorites for mint candies will always be the White Chocolate chunks with candy cane chips throughout. Sometimes they are called Mint Bark or whatever. It’s usually a Christmas thing.
Anyway, keep up the good work.
a friend bought me some of this when she went to ireland. i love anything minty with chocolate and the airy texture was heavenly. instead of the usual squares, it was molded in circles and each bubble had a cute little phrase, like “one for me” and “one for you”. mmm!
Haha...I’m eating one right now. I just picked it up at my local Cost Plus earlier today and quite frankly, I LOVE it. Not quite as good as an Andes mint...but very good. My Cost Plus has a lot of British candy that I don’t think you’ve reviewed...so I’d be happy to possibly send you something. (I live in the San Francisco Bay Area)
I love peppermint bark and have made a dark or milk chocolate version regularly (it’s really pretty easy, just whack a bag of mints until they’re dust, melt some chocolate, add some peppermint oil and blend, spread on wax paper & eat!).
I do buy that WS stuff after Xmas when it’s on sale insanely cheap.
Suze - Aero Toffee! That sounds good! I have some business associates coming to the states in the next few weeks, maybe I’ll ask them to pick some up at the airport for me.
My wife loves the WS peppermint bark. I’m less fond of it because I don’t like big chunks of hard things in my chocolate. 8^)
Dadio is talking about peppermint bark. I had a client give me some from Williams Sonoma every year for the last several Christmases.
yum theres a new aero just released in aust- bubbly toffee and it is so very sweet!
I’ve seen (and bought) these at Sainsbury’s. I keep bringing them up, and no, I don’t work for them. 8^) I forget the price, but it wasn’t any 3 for $2, Canadian or otherwise! If I could get ‘em that inexpensively I might treat myself more often.
Ever since one of my readers told me about the Aero candy, I’ve been trying to find it. I guess they don’t sell them in the US, especially on this rock in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. :-( Maybe I should move?
If I like something enough I contact the manufacturer and either buy directly from them (a case) or ask who sells it around me some even have a database online. I do order some items that I use frequently online...Chocolate is difficult though with the hot weather. But a case could last you through the summer. INMO
Mint chocolate is much more common in Australia, for some strange cultural reason…
i lilililililuililili kurdyyyyyyyyyy
yummmm!!
I’m an Australian living here in the states… i have to agree we have a larger variety of chocolate bars over there then here… hell id never had a Reese Peanut Butter Cup til i hit the states… we dont put Peanuts in 90% of our candy *L*. Anyway i figured id post a few other things for you guys to give a try that i miss from back home.
1] Milo - Made by nestle. It’s a hot malt chocolate drink that you have like hot cocoa.. but with MILK dont ever try it with water.
2) Polly Waffles - Can’t remember who made these, but theyre a pastry tube filled with marshmellow and then dipped in chocolate.
3] Freddo’s - Made by nestle.. a varity of different flavours from raspberry, mint, carmello.
4] Top Deck - Nestle chocolate.. milk chocolate on the bottom, white chocolate on the top.. scrumtious!
5] Smarties - These are made by nestle also and are sort of like m&ms;but they will melt in you hand! they taste alot better too…
6] Mars Bar - For the love of god everyone tells me they sell these in America but ive yet to find one.. Theyre Nougat and carmel dipped in chocolate.. yummy.
7] Cherry Ripe - Cadbury - this is sold STRICTLY in australia, coconut, and cherries, shreaded and dipped in dark chocolate.
8] KitKat - you won’t understand until you order one from Canada or Australia… the caramel ones are the best but they taste totally different.
9] Crunchie - Made by Cadbury - Golden honeycomb dipped in chocolate.. one of my favourites as a kid.
10] Flake & Snow Flake - Cadbury - Alot like an areo in the light fluffy texture, but its flakes of chocolate delicatly compressed. My favourite is the holiday version snowflake, which is white chocolate flakes compressed and dipped in milk chocolate.. heavinly!
11] Time Out - Cadbury - this is a flake with waffers in it.. excellent.
12] Caramello Koala - Cadbury - light sweet carmello funnly shaped as a koala and dipped in chocolate.. its a soft caramel not a chewy one.
I love anything that is chocolate, because growing up i can’t eat chocolate. My favorite combination is chocolate and mint. Can’t get often of the candy. But i won’t turn down chocolate. Thanks Holly
