Haribo Fizzy Cola

imageIf you like Haribo’s Happy Cola gummis but wish they were more like real soda and gave you burps and such, wish no more. Fizzy Cola not only has a the nice spicy cola bite, it also has a sugary/tart sanding that gives it a sassy, fizzy feeling.

I always thought that the Haribo Happy Cola bottles were a little tame. Sure, they tasted like cola, but they also tasted a little ‘flat.’ These little gummi bottles are the best candy I’ve had that capture the soda experience.

That said, I’m not really that big a fan of soda.

Since they are a little gassy, I can’t gorge myself on them without negative feedback. So in that respect they’re good for helping me to monitor my intake. I doubt that other people have the same issues I do with them so I’m still giving them a good rating because they are quite different from other candies and cola is an underutilized flavor in the candy world.

  1. I’ve always viewed Haribo as one of those sweets that you wouldn’t go out and buy, but take one if it were offered to you.

Of the fizzy coated ones, I much prefer the little cherries and of the non-fizzy varieties, those little fried eggs.

  2. These cola candies are amongst the best chewy/gummy candies out there.  That said, your anaylasis is pretty good.  Except I would buy them.  And forget the cherry ones…bleech.

  3. When I was growing up, whenever I ate gummy cola candy, I would bite off the top of it, like I just bit off the bottle cap, then spit it out, and then pop the rest in my mouth.

  4. Ah Fizzy Cola bottles, i love them, but can’t seem to get them around here. I have to settle for the starburst soda slammers.

  5. GTO - I’ll go out of my way to buy Haribo Gummis - especially the Grapefruit Slices ... but that’s just me. I’ve never tried the fried eggs.

Jack - I’ve never tried the cherries - but I’m gonna take your word for it.

Marvo - wow, you bite the the tops off of glass soda bottles too?

Leigh - I need to find Starburst soda slammers!

  6. I love the standard Cola bottles by Haribo, the best ever Cola Bottles were/are made by Swizzles Matlow in their ‘Fungums’ range. I do like the fizzies, but the sugar can be a bit much after a while. Does anyone know of Non-Fizzy Cherry Cola Bottles? I’d love it if Haribo ever made those!

  8. Neezam - Haribo gummis do contain gelatin and are not certified Kosher or Halal.

I will be visiting with Haribo next week and I’ll see what I can find out about the origin of their gelatin.

  11. God, I love these! I used to buy 5lb bags of these, at one time, and nibble on them over the next few weeks.

You can’t find them in bulk, anymore. And I can’t find these bags, either…

  13. Either we caught an off-batch or else they changed the recipe earlier this year… the taste was very different (not as sour) for a while, and now they seem closer to normal.

In Sacramento and San Francisco, they are available at most Walgreen’s stores, but are almost always sold out! Totally unreliable supply… or else just very very popular.
    Mmmm. Fizzy cola…
