Get Yer Own Candy!I’ve been compiling the Frequently Asked Questions, and one of them deserves a post of its own. How Can I Get Cool Foreign Candy? Besides the many webstores devoted to difficult to find or foreign candy, you can easily get your own assortment of tasty treats. If you’re willing to play by the golden rule, that is. Candy Swaps!
The newest candy swap site is called Gimme Your Stuff:
Of course it’s not just about candy, but I’m a firm believer in the universal language of sugar. Don’t have a blog? There’s also a Yahoo!Group called CandySwappers that has a devoted group of candy traders with over 250 members. If anyone is involved in either groups, report back, I’m curious to know how it’s going!

Candy, you know, that stuff made with sugar. These are my candy reviews. Open your mouth, expand your mind.

I could really go for some of those wilder Kit Kats available in the UK and Japan.
I just signed up for Gimme Your Stuff—I’m intrigued. If people are interested in Japanese candy, I have more than enough to go around. Here’s the post with what I’m offering.
I’ll let you know how the swaps go!
I am in candy swappers, but I am in the process of sending out my first package along the “Spring” theme. I would tell what I am sending, but then my swapee would know! I will link to this post in the yahoo group and maybe some older swappers will have more to say!
Well, I’m one of the perpetrators of gimmeyourstuff. A couple of my blogfriends in Australia were so inspired by the experience of swapping Milo for Tex-Mex goodies they got crazy creative energy and set gimmeyourstuff.blogspot.com up so others could have the same fun.
So far so good—I have enjoyed tasty things from Australia and New Jersey, along with odd cultural artifacts...have some swaps in progress with other Aussies and folks in Calgary CA, France, Tucson AZ.
One thing that’s interesting—the Internet is such an “instant” medium, but the process of setting up and then receiving exchanges unfolds in that pesky real time. Sweet exchange, but sour on my patience!
So, anyone want odd and obscure Mexican candy (like corn-flavored lollipops)? Will trade unique and/or tasty local candy for the same!
Hi,
I’m a candyswapper. Mariko from supereggplant organized the group and it’s great fun! We’re given a theme, a dollar limit, and a deadline. And the creativity really shows.
My first candyswap partner was from Pennsylvania, our first theme was “regional sweets” and our limit was $10. I got the funnest and tastiest assortment of Hershey chocolates--many of which I’d never tried.
It’s been a super fun experience and I plan to be a candyswapper for a long time.

I confess to being a candyswapper too! Its an exciting group and pretty well organised. You can choose to participate in the current swaps or not. Its up to you. You can also choose whether or not to swap to an international partner. I received my first parcel from the U.S. and it was a well thought out gift which really made my day (the first good day in 2 weeks I’ve had). So its also about the feel good factor.
Mariko (the organiser) is really helpful and friendly. I too plan on being a candyswapper for awhile yet!
