Candy Teases: Edition Two

Mars has many new products in store for us in the coming months, most in the limited edition realm:

imageName: Wildly Cherry M&Ms
Brand: Mars
Description: Cherry was rated the #1 fruit flavor by consumers in M&Ms brand research.
Release Date: March 2008
Notes: Wow, my “market research” revealed Strawberry to be the favorite red fruit flavor. (Of course I probably drive cherry fans away.)

Name: Twizzlers Pull n Peel Cinnamon Fire Candy
Brand: Hershey’s
Description: You’ll be sizzling and twizzling
Release Date: February 29, 2008
Notes: I’m not sure they’ll get as much sizzle in there as I want (I find Twizzlers a little bland), but I’m certain to give them a whirl. (UPDATE: Here’s the review.)

Name: Batman Reese’s Peanut Butter Bats in Dark Chocolate
Brand: Hershey’s
Description: Bat shaped Reese’s in dark chocolate (probably like the Reese’s Egg for Easter).
Release Date: Summer 2008 (attached to the Batman: The Dark Knight premiere)
Notes: People have been clamoring for the return of the dark chocolate Reese’s, so this seems like a good tie in.

imageName: Indiana Jones Crispy Mint M&Ms
Brand: Mars
Description: Tie in with the new Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Crystal Skull ... they’ll have little skulls printed on them just like the Pirate Pearls
Release Date: May 2008
Notes: These could be interesting ... of course bringing back the original Crispy M&Ms would be more interesting. (UPDATED: Here’s the review.)

Name: Snickers Adventure Bar
Brand: Mars
Description: a hint of chai and coconut in association with Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Crystal Skull
Release Date: May 2008
Notes: According to Brandweek the wrapper won’t say what the adventurous new flavors will be in this bar ... I think that’s too many flavors, but you know I’ll give it a whirl. (UPDATED: Here’s the review.)

  1. Oooo, is the Wildly Cherry image from the press kit? I hven’t opened mine yet.

That Snickers Adventure sounds very intereting. As did that Snickers Nut Butter Crunch that was on the Mars display in the press conference.

  2. i love artificial cherry. i despise artificial strawberry. and i love your blog smile you don’t drive me away!

i wish they’d make cinnamon m&ms;, though. still got cravings for choco-cinnamon over here…

  3. Darn! I don’t want to wait until March for the cherry flavor :(. I haven’t even been able to find the razzberry m&ms; yet.

And crispy mint? Yippeee. What a combo. Perhaps if people like it enough, they’ll bring back the crispy version for good.

  4. Ummm, your notes for “Twizzlers Pull n Peel” refer to dark chocolate Reese’s - not much to say about the twizz twizz twizzlers?

Tricia - thanks for the note! I fixed it.

Monsterpants - Ooh, a spicy chocolate version of M&Ms; might be pretty cool. Cinnamon, a little chili, maybe nutmeg and allspice. They’d be really pretty too.

Sera - I was hoping the press kit had the Crispy Mint ones, since they made me delete my photos. (Which might be on my memory card if I tried rescue disk, I suppose.)

Kate - I hope that if there’s enough of a following they will bring back Crispy. They still make them in Australia if you’re looking for vacation ideas!

  7. The Cherry M&Ms; and Twizzlers don’t interest me.  But YAY to the dark chocolate Reese’s.  The crispy minty M&Ms; sound interesting enough to try.  And the Snickers doesn’t really sounds like something I’d really like.. but it does sound like an adventure, so I look forward to trying it.

I love being on top of these new products!

  8. What’s the story on the Snickers Adventure Bar? It says they’re not to release until May 2008, but I have an un-opened one in front of me.

B Civardi - they make some in advance to give as samples to buyers. Inevitably there are “leaks” as some cases are sold on the internet or by stores. I saw some on eBay just last week.

How did you come by yours?

  10. I was suprised to read that the release date for the Fire Twizzlers was 29 02 08 because I found them on 13 02 08? I live in Alabama and we never get good candy and certainly not early, but these were soooo good. I ate two huge packs. Buy these in bulk cause I bet they will not be very popular. :(

  12. No luck yet on finding the cinnamon twizzlers but I was shocked to see the chocolate twizzlers are back. I didn’t think they were making those anymore.

  13. The Twizzlers were awesome. I tried it after reading this blog. I like it much better than the original flavor.

  14. I’m wild about the new Wildly Cherry M&Ms;!  They are great right out of the bag, and also give an awesome flavor boost to home baked cookies!

  15. Oh, forgot to suggest more flavored M&Ms;, like maybe blackberry or even blueberry, strawberry, kiwi…you get the idea.  I’m a flavor savorer, and look forward to more fruit flavored M&Ms; bursting out on the store shelves!
