Botticelli Signature: Cashew Butter Truffle

Botticelli is an upscale chocolate brand in Canada that makes nice bars at reasonable prices. I’ve never seen them in stores, but last year my husband brought me one that he got a London Drugs, so they’re pretty easy to find.

Sam, whom I met at All Candy Expo earlier this summer sent me some excellent bars to try in their Signature line. I want to post about all of them, but I have to finish tasting them all. I had to post about this one first because he sent me TWO bars and both are gone now. The listing of quality ingredients on the label alone made my mouth water.

The Cashew Butter Truffle is a milk chocolate bar with a filling of cashew butter. It’s not quite truffle-like in my estimation, more on the nut butter end of things, but that suits me just fine. The smooth and nutty butter has a good salty hit (though it says there’s no added salt) and a true-to-life flavor of cashews that just sends me over the moon.

My only disappointment about the bar was there were some “unfilled” squares on one end of the bar that were just chocolate. I like chocolate and all, but I really wanted more of that cashwey goodness.

Cashews are so rare in consumer branded chocolates it’s so refreshing to not only find a bar, but find it to be good. If you’re a nut fan, this might be the bar for you. If you’ve seen them in stores in Canada, do let me know where they’ve turned up.

  1. Cybele these sound SO good. Ahhhh veganism. I’d love it if you had a vegan category on the left. I know that’s an aweful lot to ask, considering how oh-so-many reviews you’ve done, but just a thought. ;] Sorry how bitchy and needy that sounds. <33

  2. Forgive me if I missed it but did you try or get the dark chocolate cradberry one if they still make it?  I got one at a place that was clearing it out.  It was awesome.  It was all sold out at a candy store and more expensive.  They also have a whole line of no sugar added ones.  I liked the dark one

  3. Julia - I have great news for you! I actually have some vegan “milk” chocolate (rice milk) that I’ll review on Tuesday.

I’m not quite sure how strict to be about the vegan category if I were to create it, as I know some folks are very strict about sugar and things like beeswax. Very few candies are actually “certified” vegan, so I don’t want to make assumptions.

Janet - I have some more of the Botticelli Signature bars, but it will take me a while to get to all of them. I think the cranberry is on the list.

  4. Ah I’m so excited for tomorrow’s review! I can see exactly what you mean about the requirements though. I personally don’t worry about sugar. The majority of the white I use is vegan [granulated I believe?] but otherwise I’m pretty strict. I think there’s a point where you just have to draw a line though.. Other wise you get people like those who say “Ohh but you step on ants all duh timezz!” who just don’t get it. Personally, I think any decision you make would be 100% a O.K. with me. I mean, how can you deny the review queen? [<<.. I think that had a subtle floral note to it, by the way. =)]
