Blow Pop Minis
While wasting time at the Pittsburgh Airport, I found these Blow Pop Minis. They herald, “It’s a Blow Pop with NO Stick!” Hallelujah! Now adults can eat their Blow Pops without being branded Rejuveniles. While they say they’re Blow Pops without sticks, they’re also without mass. They’re wee little candies, about the size of a smooshed garbanzo bean. And they’re mostly candy. They come in four flavors: Watermelon, Blue Razz, Cherry and Sour Apple. (No, no grape, which is a classic Blow Pop flavor.)
First, the gum is hard and tacky. Some of the time it wouldn’t even chew, just sit in the crevasses of my molars until I picked it out or ate something to dislodge it. Second, if I got the gum to chew, it was a wee amount. We’re talking the size of a BB. It would probably take six candies to make the amount of gum in one Chicklet. These are stupid. Why not make one large enough to hold a responsible amount of gum? These little candies are probably a third of the size of a Root Beer Barrel. And you’re wondering, why not just sell them has plain old unfilled hard candies? Well, then they’d just be Charms. The gum ends up being tough and flavorless ... rather like chewing a stamp or a piece of paper. The candy part isn’t bad but, of course, none of the flavors are favorites of mine. This is just a bad idea.

I love Charms Blo-Pops… but these do sound nas-tay. You need a good mouthful of gum at the end to make it worthwhile.
hey, that’s weird...i will be at the pittsburgh airport tonight! i’ll be sure to avoid these, even though i love blo-pops, way better than tootsie roll pops.
I’m not a Blow Pop fan, but these minis remind me of Tootsie Pop Drops. Do you remember those? They’re not available anymore, but they were so perfect. I miss them.
Blow Pops aren’t quite as good, mostly because the gum isn’t candy and they don’t come in orange.
Amen. Orange Tootsie pops are perfect.
Those things do indeed look tiny. Too bad, because I kind of like Blow Pops, except I hate the stick.
“These are stupid.” literally made me laugh out loud. ^.^
It’s a disappointment but, eh, there’s always more candy to go around. Plus, now I really want a Root Beer Barrel.
Sharon - I like that sound Blow Pops make when you bite into the gum center too - kind of a crunchy crackle with a whisper or “aaaah”.
Pam - I hope it was a good trip (I kind of like PIT).
Tara - I loved the Tootsie Pop Drops! They were about twice the size of these ... I wonder why they stopped making those.
Dave - I went into the convenience store here at work and it’s obvious that you and I agree ... all the other flavors were there but someone (okay, maybe just me) picked out all the Orange Tootsie Pops from the bin.
Joz - as Tara mentioned, if they were the size of Tootsie Pop Drops, we might have something ...
Julia - dang, me too. I’ve got the remainder of my Christmas stocking beside me and not a barrel to be had.
i need to find out where to buy grape blow pops
help
I just got my first bag of these and I LOVE them! That whole, pesky there’s-not-enough-gum-in-the-middle problem is solved if you just swallow the gum (like I do)!
Dude, you can buy them anywhere. http://www.amazon.com, smart and final, they sell the box variety assortments or any of those buy in bulk stores.
I love blow pops sooooooooo MUCH....love you
